Multiple applications in different industries

We have developed a variety of industrial solutions thanks to the individual adjustability of the surface properties. The basic principle is always the multilayer TOPOCROM® system, generated in a closed reactor. The coatings are very different in their properties (gliding ability, abrasion resistance, grip, guiding of fluids, better ejection, forming characteristics, embossing properties). The different "recipes" and process parameters can be individually developed according to the requirements of the customer and saved digitally for computerized manufacturing. Thus exact reproducibility is ensured.

TOPOCROM® coating of thread guides, bobbins or godets in bobbin winding machines and creels has proven its worth by the previously described properties of the "soft" topography and air cushion formation. The avoidance of filament breaks and splicing, and the longer service life of TOPOCROM® coated parts have been proven in numerous applications.

Application: Components for carbon, aramid, glass fibre, basalt fibre, synthetic fibres, technical fibres/yarns processing

For this application the precisely definable surface wettability of the rolls is used. In offset printing, the fluid carrying rolls must carry a precisely defined amount of fluid. In comparison to other types of coated or structured surfaces, TOPOCROM® achieves significantly better results in a variety of ways: better ejection, longer service life and faster cycle times.

The TOPOCROM® surface exhibits major advantages during sheet metal forming. The adhesion between tool and sheet metal is reduced, cold welding effects avoided. The cavities between the "semi-hemispheres" allow lubricant pockets to form, providing a hydrostatic effect. This ensures that the surface is evenly wetted with lubricant.

The adjustable topography or definable roughness of the coating on feeding rolls provides the required friction properties (grip) which has convincingly proven itself in the sheet metal processing industry. Leading manufacturers of sheet metal feeding machines have their rollers coated with TOPOCROM®. These types of coated roller are also distinguished by their longer service life.

Much of the carbody sheet that is processed in the automobile industry has been provided with a structured surface using TOPOCROM® coated skin pass rollers. This sheet metal surface improves the forming results and forms the perfect base for modern painting technology.

In steel mills, so-called skin-pass rolls are coated with TOPOCROM®. During the rolling process the structure of the surface is embossed into the sheet. This leads to improved formability and the carbody can be sprayed without Moiré effects.
